When it comes to home charging there are almost too many options, from a 3-pin plug to systems connected to solar panels.
A 3-pin plug when connected to a rubust RCD (Residual Current Device) protected external socket is a perfectly acceptable solution for many, as it will give you 80 miles range overnight on your normal supply rate. Our partners can supply these leads for £100, not the £300+ you will pay a dealer but check first as your EV may already have one.
The best solution however is a home charge unit, but with so many options who do you choose? Well to keep it simple ask 2 questions:
- Do you have or intend to have solar panels at home?
- Do you have or intend to have a ‘smart’ EV tariff?
If the answer to both is no, then we recommend a number of home chargepoint providers from Podpoint to Voltage where our GGG terms will secure you a discount of at least £50 plus the reassurance that installation will be via vetted staff. If however you are looking for the chargepoint to actively decide when to charge (smartly around low price supply times which vary) or you have solar and want to use your car as additional battery storage in the future, then we also have discounts with suppliers such as Hypervolt and Zappy just complete the enquiry form and we’ll suggest best options. By the way if you have no idea again just send over an enquiry, electric charging is a new way o working and we totally understand terms such as V2G and V2L confuse when all you really want to know is what’s best for you!
